How to Convert a DBF File to QFX: Step-by-Step Tutorial
🗄️ Open the DBF to QFX Converter and follow along with this tutorial.
Open Tool →Steps
Step 1: Locate Your DBF File
Find your .dbf file on your device. This could be a bank statement export, a transaction download from accounting software, or any DBF-format data file. No pre-processing is needed — the converter accepts DBF files directly.
Step 2: Open the Converter
Navigate to the DBF to QFX Converter at FinancialDataTools.com. The tool loads entirely in your browser — there is no software to install and no account to create. The left panel shows the source area where your DBF data will be loaded.
Open the DBF to QFX Converter — free, private, runs in your browser.
Open Converter →Step 3: Load Your File
Click the Open button in the toolbar to open a system file picker, then select your DBF file. Alternatively, drag and drop your file directly onto the left source panel. The converter will immediately begin parsing your file.
While the file is loading, a spinner is shown in the source panel. For most files this completes in under a second.
Step 4: Review the Source Preview
Once the file loads, your DBF data is displayed as a table in the left panel. Column headers appear in the first row. Numeric values are highlighted in blue. Null or empty values are shown as NULL in muted italic style.
Review the preview to confirm your data loaded correctly — check that the expected columns are present and that row counts look right. The stats bar above the panels shows total rows and columns.
For large files the preview shows the first 500 rows. A notice at the bottom of the table tells you how many rows are being previewed versus the total. The full dataset is always included in the conversion regardless of the preview cap.
Step 5: Convert to QFX
Click the Convert to QFX button in the toolbar. The converter processes all rows from your DBF file and generates the QFX output. A spinner is shown in the right panel while conversion is in progress.
The right (QFX output) panel becomes visible as soon as conversion begins.
Step 6: Inspect the QFX Output
After conversion completes, the right panel displays the QFX output. The status badge in the stats bar changes to CONVERTED to confirm the conversion succeeded. Scroll through the output panel to inspect the content and verify your data looks correct.
Step 7: Export the QFX File
Click the Export QFX button in the toolbar to download your converted file. The browser saves the file directly to your downloads folder. The output file is named to match your input — only the extension is changed to .qfx.
The Export QFX button is disabled until a successful conversion has completed. After downloading, you can click Reset in the toolbar to clear all state and start a new conversion with a different file.
