Frequently Asked Questions

Do you respond to every message?

We do our best to respond to every genuine inquiry within 2–3 business days. High-volume periods (such as after a new tool launch) may mean slightly longer response times, but we read and consider every message.

What kinds of tool suggestions are most useful?

We prioritize tools for financial data formats that are widely used but poorly served by existing free software. If you work with a financial file format — SQLite databases, CSV exports, proprietary brokerage formats, financial API responses — and you have trouble opening or analyzing that data without expensive desktop software, that is exactly the kind of problem we want to solve. Describe the file format, what data it contains, and how you currently open it.

Can I report a bug with a specific file?

Yes, and detailed bug reports are extremely helpful. When reporting a bug, please describe the file type (not the actual file — do not attach sensitive data), the browser and operating system you are using, the steps that trigger the issue, and what you expected to happen versus what actually happened.

Do you offer a paid or Pro version of any tools?

All tools on FinancialDataTools.com are free and will remain free. We may explore optional paid features in the future, but the core functionality — opening, browsing, and exporting your data — will always be available at no cost and without requiring an account.

How do I know my files are not being uploaded?

Every tool on this site processes files entirely within your browser using client-side JavaScript and WebAssembly. There is no server-side upload endpoint. You can verify this yourself by opening your browser's network inspector (F12 → Network tab) while using any tool — you will see no outbound requests carrying your file data. Your financial data stays on your device.

Business inquiries and partnerships

For business inquiries — advertising, integrations, data partnerships, or other commercial conversations — please select "Business inquiry" from the subject dropdown and describe your proposal. We evaluate all serious inquiries.
